Our Business Partner: Wedding Makeup Business
Story of the business
Rita began the make-up business as an undergraduate in university. She had always loved to make people look nice. She started out by simply preparing her friends for class, parties, weddings and other events. She was inspired when she read about a female Nigerian business tycoon Tara Fela-durotoye, who is currently making millions from the beauty industry she started just by making up friends, in a magazine. In 2013, Rita officially turned her knack into a business.

Class of 2020
Hi, my name is Alijah Gates. I am 15 years old in the 10th grade. I currently attend Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women. Throughout my 9th grade year I passed all my classes with A’s and B’s and ended the year with a GPA of 4.3. I’ve also participated in the robotics club and a SAT Prep class through the school year and some of the summer.
I am very passionate about learning new things and I’m always ready for a challenge. A hobby of mine would be art. My main goal in life is to be happy and to become the best person I can be. I plan to make a career in forensic science.
Class of 2019
My name is Amelie Kraef and I am a rising junior. I challenge myself each and everyday in multiple ways. I participate in the Dow High marching band and I participate in an array of extracurricular activities such as; Club Med, National Honors Society, Spanish Club and Girls Varsity Tennis. My favorite thing to do besides playing tennis is volunteer work with little kids at the Tennis Center or helping out at Camp Neyati during the summer. I plan on majoring in Journalism at Michigan State University. I wish to help out businesses in Nigeria to the best of my ability.
Class of 2018
Hello my name is LaTajah Birdsong., and I am a rising senior. I was offered the opportunity to be a part of the National Honor Society at Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women. I manage to keep my grades up and challenge myself academically and outside of school.
I used to be apart of an after school program named Paul’s Place Outreach. From 7th grade until 10th grade I was offered a job to mentor elementary students. From that experience I learned patience, responsibility, time management, and even communication. Until this day I manage to use those skills and plan on doing so in the future.
