Our Business Partner: Computer Business Center
Abdullahi Umar provides the local community with low-cost computer training and repairs and has become a hub for computer training and printing service. Many Nigerian high school kids have had the opportunity of receiving low cost computer training during their summer break with Abdullahi Umar. These services have allowed multiple families and individuals who couldn’t afford computer training in other high end schools to get the needed training. Abdullahi is also training community members looking to develop their skills computer services so they can apply to the growing computer job market within Nigeria.Because of the success of Abdullahi’s computer training program, government agencies and schools have hired their services to provide low-cost training to their government officials, teachers and students. The demand is so high Abdullahi and his team have traveled to 14 different areas within Bauchi state, providing computer training to over 200 people this year alone.
Story of the business
Abdullahi Umar has always had an aptitude for computer training and repairs this drew him to learn all he could at an early stage and eventually he began the business.
About The Owner: Abdullahi Umar
Abdullahi Umar began working with the center in 2011. He was put in charge of website and software design. Umar graduated from Federal polytechnic Bauchi in the same year, where he read Computer science. Since then he has been with the center.

My name is Julia Hekimian. I am a rising junior at Phoenix Country Day School. I am determined to succeed both academically and extracurricularly in anything I am able to.
I have attended the Junior National Young Leadership Conference for two years. Both last and this year I have taken on the challenge of learning Chinese, and extensively am participating in a Kung Fu class. In addition to this, I have joined a new Women’s Empowerment club this year.
I am extremely passionate about learning and working with technology, whether it is video editing, coding, or other such computer science topics. I hope to continue with this field in college.
I’m very excited to work with our Nigerian partners and assist them in whatever way we can.

My name is Jeffrey Kendig, and I am a rising junior. I live in Nashville, TN, and I go to Goodpasture Christian School. I love playing soccer and being in my school’s band.
I am also in many more extracurricular activities; one of which is painting. I am also the Vice President of my class and am in the National Junior Honor Society. I have also gone on a mission trip to the City of Children, Mexico. I love math and aspire to be an programmer or engineer one day.
I am very glad that I have the opportunity to work with Leadership Initiatives and with the businesses in Nigeria. I hope that I can make a difference in the lives of many people not only in Nigeria, but in the whole world.

My name is Cameron Pinkelton and I am a rising junior in high school. I have lived in North Carolina my entire life and enjoy the wide range of opportunities to explore the natural world that this state offers. I am an Eagle Scout and have always enjoyed spending time outdoors, hiking and camping. Academically, I am especially interested in the fields of math and science. My goal professionally is to be a physician. I will most likely major in biology, biochemistry, or chemistry in college.

My name is Adrian Gibbons and I am a rising senior from the mountains of western Maryland. As a homeschooled student, I was able to begin attending Allegany College of Maryland while in the 10th grade. I enjoy skiing, competitive robotics, programming, tabletop gaming, and playing jazz and blues on my alto saxophone.
I am thrilled to be part of Leadership Initiatives’ International Leadership and Business Summit and look forward to working with my team and business partner to help Abdullahi’s business grow.
